In April 2007, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter asked the American Humane Association to do an in-depth review of our practices and protocols as they relate to keeping animals in our care healthy, both physically and mentally. Our end goal was to find ways that we could improve our care for animals in order to proactively and quickly re-home them through adoption, transfer and foster programs. We are pleased to share the Executive Summary and full report completed by American Humane. The board and staff of the Shelter are committed to providing the best possible care for animals during their stay with us. In 2006, we handled over 5,000 animals from our community, which would not have been possible without the support of the community, our great staff and volunteers. We would like to thank both American Humane and our community for their support as we continue to strive for excellence.
