Critter Camp

Critter Camp is the Cheyenne Animal Shelter’s day camp for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. This camp, now in its seventh year, is an excellent educational opportunity for children. Campers learn how to treat animals with compassion and respect. Children attending camp interact with a variety of animals from the shelter and the community, learn about animals from local experts, and participate in games, crafts and educational worksheets. The cost is $150 per camper or $125 per camper if more than one child is enrolled. This year's dates for camp are:

July 11-15, 2011 (3-5)

July 18-22, 2011 (K-5)

Aug 1-5, 2011 (K-5)

Pet Loss Support Group

The Pet Loss Support Group meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Laramie County Library.

Losing a pet, or facing the loss of a sick or elderly pet can be one of the most devastating and painful experiences we face. Everyone is encouraged to come and join others who understand grief and the loss of a best friend. Please bring a picture of your beloved pet.

Question? Call Shirley at 635-4200 or the Shelter at 632-6655

Kind News

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter sponsors 41 Cheyenne classrooms in receiving a Kind News subscription five times per year. Kind News is published by the Humane Society of the United States and encourages good character in children with an emphasis on kindness to animals, respect for natural habitats, good citizenship, and peaceful conflict resolution. It is a fun, cross-curricular teaching tool that gets kids into the reading and writing habit. Every issue includes fascinating facts about animals, tricky brainteasers, KIND Club Projects, and inspirational celebrity profiles. And Kind News gives children a forum for expressing their opinions and contributing original short stories. It is published in three reading levels (grades K-2, 3-4 and 5-6.) For more information on Kind News, visit www.kindnews.org. If you know of a local classroom that would like to receive a subscription from the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, contact Baylie Evans at 632-6655.
