'Paddle on the Plains' Pickleball Tournament

Thank you to those who signed up to play, and most importantly, for supporting the pets and programs at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter! We are so excited to have over 130 participants this year!

For any tournament registrants who are new to the game and would like to get some practice in before the tournament, The Picklr invites you to stop in on Thursday afternoon (12-5 P.M.) or Friday afternoon (12-5 P.M.), to play for free.

Schedules and Divisions

Please click the button below to view the tournament schedule, including divisions, teams, and start times. Please note that some teams were moved to balance division needs, and if you identify any issues or someone missing in the requested division, please contact Wally using the contact information above.

Please arrive 30 minutes before your first scheduled match for check-in. Be sure to coordinate with your partner to make sure you are both aware of your division and start time! We will work to stay on schedule throughout the weekend, but minor timing adjustments may occur. Please be ready to play when your group is called. We will not have long delays between rounds.

Registration Payments

If you have not yet paid for your registration, please use the button below to do so. This is considered a donation to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, so please select “Other Amount” and include the note “Pickleball Registration” in the comment section. You can also make an additional donate here if interested!

  • $30 for one event.

  • +$15 for a second event.

Tournament Format & Rules

We plan to use the Swish for tournament schedules and scoring. Please download Swish before the tournament — join codes will be provided onsite.

Balls: Vulcan

Round Robin: to 11, win by 1
Bracket Play & Semifinals: to 11, win by 2
Championship & Bronze: to 15, win by 2
Timeouts: none during round robin; one per game in bracket play
Bracket Play: single elimination (starting in quarterfinals)

Seeding will be based on win percentage. If tied:

  1. Head-to-head (if applicable)

  2. Total points

  3. Coin flip

Tournament directors may adjust the format if needed to maintain schedule consistency.

Special Guests

We are excited to welcome Kyle Yates, 7× U.S. Open Champion, on Saturday!

We will also be showing adoptable pets throughout the day on Saturday, and Magnolia, the Shelter rock star, will be in attendance as well!

Raffles & Fundraising

We will have raffle items and a 50/50 raffle throughout the weekend.
All proceeds benefit the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.  Please bring some cash to make the raffles easier to manage.

Food, Drinks, & Supporting the Shelter

A cash bar will be available Friday evening and all day Saturday, with all net proceeds going to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter thanks to:

Noam’s Table food truck will be onsite Saturday.

This is a charity tournament, so please keep it fun, competitive, and positive. We thank you for coming together for the pets in our care and the programs that support our community.
