Meet Kendra, your CAS Foster Coordinator!
With more than 10 years of experience in animal welfare, including work in doggy daycares, grooming, and shelter care, Kendra brings both knowledge and compassion to every animal she supports. She has been part of the CAS team for three years and is especially passionate about fostering bottle kittens, one of her favorite ways to make a difference during kitten season.
At home, Kendra shares her life with four beloved pets — Gouda, Badger, Queso, and Tenilli — and in her free time, she enjoys hiking and attending training classes with her dogs. Her dedication to animals and the people who care for them makes her an invaluable resource for CAS fosters and the pets they help save every day.

“In the long run, it helps prepare these guys, and it’s such a good feeling to know that you’re getting them ready to be part of a household.”
- Jessica Cupp, CAS Foster
Why become a CAS foster?
Fostering a pet might seem like a small thing. But to that pet, it’s everything. It’s the first good night of sleep, the first full belly, the first moment they feel safe again. It’s where more than 500 kittens blossom every year. It’s where dogs like Honey settle into motherhood, and her 9 pups grow and thrive. It’s where history is made, and felines like Avocado Ranch become the first to survive FIP and be adopted from CAS.
Fosters meet animals where they are in their journey and surround them with the care and compassion they deserve. You’re making a life-changing difference for your foster pet, their future family, and the animal that takes your foster’s vacant spot in the shelter. It’s incredibly rewarding and builds the future that all of us animal lovers hope to see.
If you’ve ever considered fostering, we encourage you to take the leap. While it’s not always glamorous, fostering saves lives—and there’s no better time to start than now! To learn more, check out our FAQ or click the button below to read about the other impacts our foster families have made. For any additional questions, please reach out to CAS Foster Coordinator, Kendra.

As a foster, responsibilities may change depending on the specific pet(s) in your care. Here are the essentials!
Provide a safe, clean, compassionate environment.
Provide and/or use provided food and litter from CAS.
Monitor any medical and/or behavioral problems and log them in the Foster Portal.
Transport pet to/from any necessary medical appointments or events.
-
The length of time each foster pet needs support is dependent on their situation and the type of animal you are caring for. Fostering can often be a commitment of 2-4+ weeks.
-
We understand that everyone has different schedules and fostering capabilities, so fosters are allowed to choose which pets they welcome into their home. While kittens are the most common pet in need of a foster, we are always looking for more foster parents willing to support our canine friends!
-
CAS Foster Coordinator, Kendra, ensures that every foster has the resources and training they need to provide the exceptional care that every pet deserves. In our Foster Portal, you can find online trainings, but Kendra is always happy to educate fosters and answer any questions you may have.

Fostering is a wonderful family experience and teaches children lessons in responsibility, respect, and caring for animals! While not every animal is fit for a family lifestyle, there are pets out there that are ready for the love of people of all ages!
If you already have pets in the home, we ask that foster pets serve a “quarantine” time before mixing with other animals to decrease the risk of spreading possible illnesses. The health risk is minimal if your animals are up-to-date on vaccinations and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
