From October 1–15, we are partnering with Cathy Bissell and the BISSELL Pet Foundation to reduce adoption fees and find these pets loving homes to call their own!

Community Pet Health Fair and Clinic
It’s free vaccine time!
In partnership with Halladay Subaru, Subaru Loves Pets, Petco Lovecare, and the ASPCA, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter will be hosting a Community Pet Health Fair on October 18th, 2025! Bring your fluffy companions over to Halladay Subaru (2030 Westland Rd, Cheyenne, WY, 82001) between 10:00 and 2:00 P.M. to get your pets fully vaccinated and microchipped for free (while supplies last)!
You will also have the chance to enter a free raffle for the chance to win one of ten dog spay/neuter surgery slots at one of our local veterinary clinics. Be sure to arrive early to claim your free vaccinations. All pets must be brought on a leash or in a kennel.
We hope to see you and your furry pals there!

'Paddle on the Plains' Pickleball Tournament
Paddle for a cause at the 2025 ‘Paddle on the Plains’ pickleball tournament!
On Saturday, November 8th, join us at The Picklr, where you can play for the chance to take home the first-ever Paddle on the Plains trophy, while supporting the pets and programs here at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
All ages and skill levels are welcome to register, and we will be hosting three divisions (men’s, women’s, and mixed). Enjoy exciting raffles, delicious beverages, and meet some of our very own adoptable (and adorable) shelter pets!

Strange Remedy Benefit Concert
Get ready for an evening of classic rock and pawfect pets!
On Saturday, September 6th, regional rock band, Strange Remedy, takes the stage at The Lincoln to benefit the Cheyenne Animal Shelter! Admission to this concert is free, but a ticket reservation is required. A limited number of VIP tables for 4 are available for $100—while they last!
Doors open at 6:30 P.M., with Strange Remedy’s performance beginning at 7:30 P.M.
All proceeds directly support the pets and programs here at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter to continue our work of enhancing the lives of people and the pets they love.

Critter Camp 2025
Get ready for a one-day animal adventure your kids won’t forget!
Each Critter Camp date is packed with hands-on, animal-loving excitement—think interactive presentations, up-close encounters, and new ways to learn about the amazing pets we share our world with.
Each day offers something different, so your critter-loving kiddo can come to one or both!
Cheyenne Animal Shelter welcomes students aged 8-11 years old to register and learn all about animals in this fun and engaging one-day camp. Camp will be held each day (8:30 AM to 3:30 PM) in the Wyoming State Museum (2301 Central Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001) classroom to provide additional resources for learning!
Registration for one child is $50. Class is limited to 20 campers each day.
Registration includes camp supplies for the day and a Cheyenne Animal Shelter water bottle, and supports ongoing Humane Education efforts. Campers will need to bring their own cold lunch.

Did you know North Shore Animal League America declared August 1st the official birthday for all rescue dogs? Since 2008, DOGust 1st has been a special day to honor these wonderful pups and their incredible impact on our lives.

Thanks to our pawsome friends at Black Dog Animal Rescue, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter will be hosting an All-Dogs Spay Day on Saturday, July 19th!
20 low-cost surgery slots will be available, and for just $50, your pup will receive:

🐾 a microchip registered to their owner,
🐾 and their essential vaccines (Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper)

WyoGives Day 2025

With over 5,000 pets making their way through our doors every year, many of which are in need of medical attention, an X-ray is often where that healing begins. This WyoGives Day, July 16th, 2025, give where your heart is as we come together to raise $25,000 towards a new X-ray machine for the veterinary clinic at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter!

Free Foster Class: Handling Common Ailments
Are you a foster or interested in fostering and want to learn the best practices for protecting your foster pet?
Join CAS Medical Director and Veterinarian, Dr. Tessha Winsch, for a free class on handling common ailments in dogs and cats! This informational class will help you learn the ins and outs of identifying common ailments and diseases, how to protect your foster pet from sickness, and the services available to you as a foster parent through the Cheyenne Animal Shelter’s veterinary clinic.

Dog Jog 5K 2025
Mark your calendars, lace up your running shoes, and leash up your pups... it’s time for the Dog Jog 5K!
Course Race Map
Join the pack and run for a cause on May 24th, 2025. This dog-friendly 5k welcomes runners and walkers of all ages (even in dog years!) to raise funds for the pets and programs of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Packet Pickup: May 23rd, 2025, from 1:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter (800 Southwest Dr., Cheyenne, WY 82007). Collect your timed race bib and Dog Jog t-shirt to prepare for race day! If you're unable to attend packet pickup, your supplies will be waiting for you at race check-in on May 18th at 8:00 A.M.
Race Day: May 24th, 2025, at Lions Park (South Picnic Shelter) Race check-in and packet pickup will open at 8:00 A.M., with the Dog Jog 5k officially kicking off at 9:00 A.M. Enjoy some nutritious snacks and stop by the Two Dogs & a Baker booth to snag a pup cup for your canine companion. If you need some extra pep in your step, snag a drink from The Florista coffee trailer!
Race Course: The race starts and finishes at the South Picnic Shelter at Lions Park. Racers will utilize the pedestrian underpass under Central Ave. to loop around the airport golf course, before making a loop around Sloan Lake. Please review the map below for a visual guide to the race course.
After the race, be sure to stick around for the dog awards! We will be awarding the following:
"Fitness" Award - goes to the pup who has just began their fitness journey.
Most Well-Behaved Dog - goes to the pup who had the best manners during the race.
Fewest Steps Taken - goes to the smallest dog in attendance.
Most Steps Taken - goes to the largest dog in attendance.
Fastest Small Dog - goes to the first small dog to cross the finish line.
Fastest Large Dog - goes to the first large dog to cross the finish line.

Free Foster Pet Marketing Class
Are you a foster or interested in fostering and want to learn the best practices for helping your foster pet find the pawfect home?
Join CAS Foster Coordinator, Laura Woeber, and Social Media and Marketing Coordinator, Kayla Hahn, for a free class on foster pet marketing! This informational class will help you learn the ins and outs of marketing your foster pet by:
Writing compelling pet bios
Capturing eye-catching photos and videos
Using social media to reach adopters
Showcasing your foster pet’s personality
Whether you're a seasoned foster or just getting started, this class will give you the tools to make a difference and get your foster pet adopted faster! April Spay Day
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter is proud to be offering low-cost spay/neuter surgery slots on April 12th in partnership with the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Fix the Future initiative!
We will be offering 34 feline and 6 canine surgery slots. Registration will only be available online and will open on Monday, March 31st, at 8:00 A.M.
Please note that you must provide proof of rabies vaccine and microchip, or your pet will be required to receive them both during their surgery. Vaccines will not be available during this event without a secured surgery slot. TNR cats are exempt from the microchip requirement, but they will be ear-tipped during surgery.
