2025 Hoarding Case Updates

It’s been a busy week at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter—welcoming and caring for over 100 pets from the recent hoarding case while continuing our regular shelter operations. It takes a village to give these pets the compassion and care they deserve, and we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of kindness, support, and donations from our community.

We understand there are many questions surrounding this case, and we want to provide as much clarity as we can. Please refer to the FAQ below for answers to some of the most common questions we’ve received:

"How can I make a monetary donation?"

Monetary donations can be made by clicking the button below or by visiting the shelter in person at 800 Southwest Dr. Thank you for considering us during this time.

"What supplies are needed?"

We are currently in need of extra-large blankets, towels, hay, hot dogs, whipped cream, goat pellets, veggies, dog toys, and elevated bowl stands. We also need all kinds of bird supplies. There are birds ranging in size from very small to medium. We need perches, pellets (we have plenty of seed), interactive toys, cuttle bones and vitamin blocks, cage-mounting baths, and food and water dishes.

"What is the status of the case and the person involved?"

CAS is not responsible for the ongoing investigation of this case, nor the issuance of any citations or pressing of charges. We cannot comment on or provide updates for the case. Frustrating as this is, we encourage the public to look into Wyoming's laws governing animal care, cruelty, and neglect, and to speak with their elected officials if they would like to see changes made to help prevent things like this from happening in the future.

"How can I adopt or foster one of the pets involved?"

At this time, these pets are not available for adoption or fostering. As we continue to work with these animals, we will share updates about their status and, when the time comes, share when they are ready to find new homes.

"What is the best way to stay updated?"

The absolute best way to stay updated on the animals in our care, any advancements in their progress, and shelter needs is by signing up for our free e-newsletter using the button below. These emails are sent bi-weekly (sometimes more frequently) and extend a deeper look into the world of CAS.
